"Eugène-Louis Doyen was a French 19th century surgeon interested in photograpgy and cinematography. He produced numerous films and photos of his operations, including a craniectomy, an abdominal hysterectomy, and a surgery for separation of conjoined twins. Sadly most of his photo's were lost in WWII." More information about him and his work here.

Here are some of his photo's.

I wonder how he fixed his specimens. He and his team were defo skilled meat cutters at the very least.

Excellent collection of b/w's. Love the old vintage uniforms and gloves. Except I noticed in most of the procedures the Doctor wasn't wearing gloves. Not a very sterile environment for surgery. And the Nuns face pretty much is self explanatory, she doesn't look to comfortable staring at penor lol.

This guy would have loved the work of Gunther Von Hagens and his plastination technique.
